BSF detained a Bangladeshi at Bhurungamari Border.

A Bangladeshi national has been detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Bhurungamari border in Kurigram. The detainee was identified as Shakil, 20, son of Ahmed Ali, a resident of Dakshin Jhashanjani village in Pathardubi union of the upazila. The incident took place at around 5:30 am on Sunday at the Maidan border of Pathardubi Union.

According to BGB and border sources, a group of cattle smugglers entered Dhalbari, about 150 yards inside India, from the International Border Pillar 96/7S at the Maidan border on Sunday morning. Members of the patrol team at the 129 Dighaltari BSF camp in Dinhata, India, sensed the presence of cattle smugglers and chased them. The rest fled but BSF detained Shakil. Later, BSF took Shakil to Dighaltari camp.

Kurigram-22 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Muttakim said, “We have also heard the matter.” However, the BSF has not yet informed us about this. No complaint was received from the family of the detainee.
